Rabigh Refining & Petrochemical Company (Petro Rabigh) was founded in 2005 as a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical. The share capital is valued at about SAR 16.71 billion.Today, Saudi Aramco holds 60% and Sumitomo Chemical holds 15%, while the remaining stake is held by public institutions and shareholders with production capacity of 18.4 million tons per annum (MTPA) of petroleum-based products and 2.4 MTPA of ethylene and propylene-based derivatives.

Petro Rabigh products serve as feedstock for the manufacture of numerous end products, such as plastics, detergents, lubricants, resins, coolants, antifreeze, paints, carpets, ropes, clothing, shampoo, automotive interiors, epoxy adhesives, insulation materials, films, fibers, household appliances, packaging, candles, and pipes.

Petro Rabigh products support diverse industries, including packaging, automotive, construction, textiles, coatings, adhesives, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, and other specialty applications.

Petro Rabigh products have a vast range of applications that create opportunities for downstream investors to establish new industries in the region, fostering the development of new skills and job opportunities. Through the Petro Rabigh Industrial Complex (Rabigh PlusTech Park), the Kingdom's leading industrial park for conversion industries, Petro Rabigh provides an attractive platform for downstream conversion and value-added manufacturing. Located next to the Petro Rabigh complex, the Park is designed to accommodate third-party projects and polymer compounding activities, enabling investors to utilize Petro Rabigh products as key feedstock for the production of chemical compounds such as polyols, polymer stabilizers, xylenes, and solvents. The Rabigh Plastic Technical Center (R-PTC), a state-of-the-art facility within the park, further supports these industries by providing technical assistance and training in plastic processing technology
