PETRO RABIGH DETAILS PHASE II PRODUCTS TO NEW AND EXISTING CUSTOMERS AND POTENTIAL INVESTORS ACROSS THE KINGDOM
Gearing up to the commissioning and full operation of Petro Rabigh Phase II, Petro Rabigh representatives met with new and existing customers and potential investors at the Kingdom’s three major Chambers of Commerce and Industry in early May. The purpose was to inform the business community of the Phase II products that are set to boost the country’s downstream industry, with unique and innovative opportunities when they enter the market in September this year.

Sponsored by Vice President of Market Development Takashi Shigemori and Vice President of Industrial Relations Bassam A. Al-Bokhari, the Petro Rabigh team met with leading figures in the downstream industry at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jeddah on May 1, followed by its counterparts in Dammam on May 8, and the capital Riyadh on May 11. The Petro Rabigh representatives briefed audiences on product specifications and applications, as well as the advantages offered to investors through Rabigh PlusTech Park and Petro Rabigh Industrial Complex.

Takashi Shigemori described the successful completion of Phase II as “a milestone moment for the downstream industry in the region”.
“The new Phase II product slate, which will be available from the third and fourth quarters of this year, will offer numerous opportunities and promote innovation and diverse investment, and create job opportunities for Saudis,” he said. “The opportunities these products will create will have a significant impact on investment in conversion industries and create jobs and skills in the region.”

Bassam A. Al-Bokhari further highlighted the competitive advantages offered by Rabigh PlusTech Park and Petro Rabigh Industrial Complex, conversion parks adjacent to the Petro Rabigh complex that offer tenants unique advantages in terms of leasing agreements, feedstock supplies, facilities and infrastructure.

“These platforms for downstream industries in the Kingdom attract diverse investment and create thousands of jobs in related industries and services,” Al-Bokhari said. “Together with the new Phase II products, they reinforce Petro Rabigh’s business model and goals that are in line with Saudi Vision 2030 for a vibrant society, a thriving economy and an ambitious nation.”
In May, the Cumene unit, which supplies feedstock for Phenol, became the first Phase II process plant to undergo start-up, with all the other process plants due to follow by the end the year. In addition to Phenol, the new products to be introduced to the market include Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA), Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR), Thermo Plastic Olefin (TPO), Poly Methyl Methacrylate (PMMA), Polyamide PA6 (Nylon 6), Acetone, Para Xylene and Benzene.
