Abdulaziz F. Al-Khayyal graduated in 1977 from the University of California , Irvine , where he received a B.S. degree in mechanical an Management Development Seminar in 1986 and an Advanced Management Programme at the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. In 1981, Al-Khayyal joined Saudi Aramco as an engineer, where he has held a variety of managerial positions in oil and gas operations and maintenance. In 1991, he was appointed a Director of Personnel, then promoted to President of Saudi Petroleum International, Inc. in New York . In 1994, he moved to the Petron Corporation, Saudi Aramco's refining joint venture in the Philippines , as a President. On his return to the Kingdom, Al-Khayyal was appointed to different positions, first as a Vice President of Sales and Marketing Department, Employee Relations and Training Department and Corporate Planning Department. In 2000, he was named Senior Vice President for the International Operations Department for two years, then assumed the same position for the Refining and Marketing Department. In 2004, Al-Khayyal was appointed to the Board of Directors of Saudi Aramco. He has also chaired the Board of Directors of Saudi Aramco's shipping subsidiary, Vela International Marine Ltd., since 2000. He has been a member of the Board of Petro Rabigh since 2005. In September 2007, Al-Khayyal was appointed Senior Vice President of International Relations.
